Spybrain - who are we?
“We” are the brothers Lars and Ralf. After we were infected with the escape virus for the first time sometime in early 2015, it worked its way through us until we realized: we can do that too – and we want to do it. And so it started with Spybrain…
Today a whole team cares for our two escape room locations and a range of other products like the Boller Battle.
How did it all begin?

2017
First location & „magical music machine“
After a long search, we finally found our first location in 2017 – as a genuine start-up in a former garage. But don’t worry, the smell of engine oil has long gone, and from the inside you wouldn’t believe where you are. In the same year, we were able to launch our first room, “the magical music machine”. We designed all the puzzles and game rooms ourselves. It turned out that we seemed to be quite good at it, so we just didn’t stop.

2018
The Traveler
And so, just a short time later (2018), our second game opened, the Traveler! An ambitious project, ahead of its time: we built this room without using the (at that time) far-spread number padlocks, or in fact, any other types of locks. Today this futuristic room still amazes with its advanced technical effects.

2020
Covid pandemic: Online games
During the pandemnic and the lockdowns we channelled our creativity towards the online market. Our price-winning series „Emergency procedure“ was our online escape game: the episodes, designed to play from home, in a multiplayer mode! For technical reasons we currently cannot offer these games any more (the engine has run out of support). But the memory of this exciting digital adventure remains.

2025
Second Location & „mysterious melody“
In the winter of 2024/2025 we could finally open our second location. We started with a remake here, with „the mysterious melody“. This room is based on our twice TERPECA-nominated room, the „magical music machine“, but realised on a completely new level of sophistication.

Boller Battle
Since 2025 we are bringing the mobile Gameshow to Cologne. The Boller Battle promises action in the park, at the river bank, or wherever you want.
